What Affects Varmala Preservation Cost?
The price is not random. A few things move it up or down. Once you know them, your quote makes sense.
1. Resin Quality
The type of resin your artist uses directly affects how clear, smooth, and long-lasting your frame will be.
High-quality resin keeps the frame glossy, protects the flowers better, and resists yellowing over time. On the other hand, low-quality resin can turn yellow, look cloudy, develop bubbles, and lose its finish.
2. Varmala Frame Shape
Generally most couples go for a standard square or rectangular frame. These shapes are easier to prepare, arrange, and preserve wedding flowers. That’s why they are considered as more affordable options.
But you can also choose heart, circle, arch, or custom-shaped frames. These designs need more planning and finishing work, which can increase your overall preservation cost.
3. Varmala Frame Size and Depth
The size of the varmala frame you choose is one of the first things that affects the price. A larger frame needs more resin, more flowers, and more work to arrange everything properly.
And depth of the frame equally matters too. If your wedding varmala is thick or has larger flowers, you need a deeper frame to fit everything without crushing the flowers. So, a large or deep frame will usually cost more than a small, flat one.
4. Number and size of flowers
You don't always have to preserve your entire varmala. Some couples choose a few flowers, while others want to preserve the complete varmala.
Now, preserving the complete varmala or your wedding bouquet will naturally cost more than saving just a few flowers or blooms. You can choose to preserve some flowers from your engagement party, or haldi and mehndi celebrations
5. Design and Personalisation
Adding personal touches to your varmala can increase the overall cost. It depends on how many add-ons you choose, such as names, wedding dates, photos, initials, quotes, floral layouts, or other personal elements. So, the more personalisation usually means higher costing.
And the cost of varmala preservation also varies because of,
6. Flower Condition
The condition of your varmala also affects the preservation cost. The fresher your flowers are, the easier they are to prepare and preserve. If your flowers have started to wilt, turn brown, or break, they may need extra cleaning, drying, and preparation. This can add to the overall cost.
Tip: Send your varmala for preservation as soon as possible after your wedding.
7. Speed and Delivery
Rush or last-minute orders cost extra because they need faster processing. Your delivery location and the size of your frame can also affect the final shipping cost. It's best to check the complete timeline and delivery charges before placing your order.
Note: For large resin frames, proper packaging is very important. The piece needs to reach you safely without scratches, cracks, or any damage.
How to Choose the Right Preservation Service
Your varmala is something you'll want to keep for years, so don't choose a preservation service just because the price looks reasonable.
We at Shaahidecor, have preserved more than 1000 varmala’s in the last 5 years. You can check some of our varmala collection here.
A few simple checks can help you choose the right artist.
-
Check their past work. Go through their Instagram or website and look at real preservation projects. This will give you a better idea of their finish and design quality.
-
Ask about the resin. Ask what type of resin they use and how they protect the piece from yellowing or losing its clarity over time. A good service should be able to explain this clearly.
-
Confirm the timeline. Ask how long the complete process will take and when you can expect your preserved varmala back.
-
Check how they pack it. Your frame needs proper protection during shipping. Ask how they pack and handle the piece before it is sent to you.
Before You Book, Ask These Questions
Before you hand over your varmala, ask
-
How long is the preservation expected to last?
-
Whether you will get photos of the finished piece before shipping?
-
What happens if your frame is damaged during delivery?
We at Shaahidecor, promise it’ll be long lasting for 10-20 years easily depending on your care.
A reliable preservation service should be clear about these things from the start.
DIY vs Shaahidecor’s Professional Varmala Preservation Service
You can try preserving your varmala at home. A basic resin kit costs around ₹500 to ₹2,000.
The catch is the process. Resin needs an exact mix, or it never sets. Air bubbles slip in while you pour, and once they're there, they stay. Your flowers have to be fully dried first, or they turn brown and spoil inside the resin. One mistake, and your varmala is gone and you can't even replace.
That's why most couples hand it to a pro. A professional job starts around ₹5,000. You pay more, but you pay for safe hands and a finish that lasts.
At Shaahi Decor, we've preserved thousands of varmalas. We treat and dry each flower so it holds its colour and shape. We pour proper resin for a clean, glass-like finish with no bubbles. Then we arrange your flowers into a piece you'll actually want on your wall.
For something this personal, that care is the whole point.
If you'd still rather learn resin art yourself, we run online and offline workshops too. You can attend these to understand the process in detail and learn how to preserve your memories the right way.

When Should You Send Us Your Varmala?
Within 48 hours, the flowers start to wilt, lose shape, and fade. So make sure you send us your varmala within 1-2 days after your wedding. The sooner we get it, the brighter it stays.
Keep it in the fridge until then. Wrap it in a soft cloth or paper. Don't seal it in plastic, or it will rot.
Once it reaches us, drying takes about 8 to 10 days. Then we set it in resin and build your frame. We ship across India, packed safe so nothing breaks on the way.
